General Session 2

This interactive session will provide an overview of the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation Grand Challenge, a national initiative to improve the health of the nation by first improving the health of nurses. Data from the Healthy Nurse survey will be shared, including findings specific to nurse educators. The session will include brief wellness activities, group discussions, and a call to action to join the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation movement.

Session Objectives
Following this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the current data on the status of nurse health, safety, and wellness, including findings specific to nurse educators and students
  • Understand the relevance of the data findings both personally and professionally and identify strategies and solutions through group discussion and wellness activities
  • Engage in the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation Grand Challenge and commit to one specific and measurable action to improve their health.


Jaime Dawson

Jaime Murphy Dawson, MPH, is the Director of Program Operations for the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™ Grand Challenge at the American Nurses Association. Her past programmatic work at ANA has included occupational safety and health topics, such as safe patient handling and mobility, healthcare worker vaccination, violence prevention, and sharps safety. She attended George Washington University’s School of Public Health and Health Services and earned a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on environmental and occupational health.
