Interprofessional Education and Practice-Putting All the Pieces Together

Errors in healthcare have been linked to communication breakdowns across interprofessional teams. Several initiatives have been focused on improving relationships and collaboration among the professions. Interprofessional education is the partnership between disciplines that creates a common goal of patient safety and quality patient care. Nurse educators play a pivotal role in connecting professions and contributing to the growth of IPEP in healthcare. In this session, participants will understand the history and significance of IPEP in healthcare. They will examine challenges associated with IPEP, and will identify strategies to use when developing IPEP opportunities for students.
