ATI Nursing Education has disappointing news to share about the upcoming National Nurse Educator Summit scheduledfor Oct. 17-20 in San Antonio.

After much thought and deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 National Nurse Educator Summit in Texas. This decision was made based on the uncertainty of the COVID-19 Delta variant and the current “severe” risk-of-transmission status in Bexar County, where San Antonio is located. Recently, the situation there has become increasingly serious. Data last week showed the case rate had increased to 69.1 cases per 100,000 residents, and the new case rate was 35% higher than it had been during the previous 7 days. Thankfully, nurses are stepping in to help; in the last 2 weeks, more than 600 have arrived in the county from out of state to assist local hospitals.

While wealwayslook forward to creating the #BestWorkweekEver, our No. 1 priority is the health and safety of everyone at Summit — attendees, exhibitors, and ATI employees. Thus, consideringthe current situation in the San Antonio area, wedeterminedthat moving forward with an in-person event wouldnot be feasible.

However, keep Summit on your calendar! We are in the process of reorganizingthe conferenceinto a virtual event that will feature the same lineup of compelling keynote speakers and accomplished leaders discussing topics of vital importance to nursing education. We’ll have real-time sessions plus webinars you can watch on demand. And you’ll have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits like you do at our in-person event.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this necessary change causes. Our team was incredibly excited to see youafter the disappointment of cancelling our 2020 event. However, you, our vendors, and speakersare what makeSummitso special, andwe won’t take any risks withyour safety.

As we move our event online, look for details coming soon about registration, the full agenda, and more.
