ATI Nursing Education has disappointing news to share about the upcoming National Nurse Educator Summit scheduled for Oct. 17-20 in San Antonio.
After much thought and deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 National Nurse Educator Summit in Texas. This decision was made based on the uncertainty of the COVID-19 Delta variant and the current “severe” risk-of-transmission status in Bexar County, where San Antonio is located. Recently, the situation there has become increasingly serious. Data last week showed the case rate had increased to 69.1 cases per 100,000 residents, and the new case rate was 35% higher than it had been during the previous 7 days. Thankfully, nurses are stepping in to help; in the last 2 weeks, more than 600 have arrived in the county from out of state to assist local hospitals.
While we always look forward to creating the #BestWorkweekEver, our No. 1 priority is the health and safety of everyone at Summit — attendees, exhibitors, and ATI employees. Thus, considering the current situation in the San Antonio area, we determined that moving forward with an in-person event would not be feasible.
However, keep Summit on your calendar! We are in the process of reorganizing the conference into a virtual event that will feature the same lineup of compelling keynote speakers and accomplished leaders discussing topics of vital importance to nursing education. We’ll have real-time sessions plus webinars you can watch on demand. And you’ll have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits like you do at our in-person event.
We do apologize for any inconvenience this necessary change causes. Our team was incredibly excited to see you after the disappointment of cancelling our 2020 event. However, you, our vendors, and speakers are what make Summit so special, and we won’t take any risks with your safety.
As we move our event online, look for details coming soon about registration, the full agenda, and more.
If you had already registered for the in-person Summit, we will automatically refund your registration fee, but – in the meantime – don’t forget to cancel your hotel and transportation plans. (Most airlines are accommodating travel changes with no penalties.)
We will have more details and FAQs to share soon. Please check back often for the most up-to-date information.
