Student Orientation! Creating Student Orientation to Equip Students for Program Success

This interactive session will explore the many facets of nursing students and their unique needs as they enter and progress through the collegiate world of nursing. Emphasis on building a strong collaborative orientation session that promotes student success, faculty relationship and has the potential to decrease attrition through the program will be the focus. Participants will leave with tangible ideas and resources to create their own powerful student orientation sessions for each semester.

  • Explore the unique needs of nursing students and how to address those needs with a robust student orientation.
  • Build a strong orientation session – what to include and how to structure the sessions for successful student orientations
  • Determine what is most important in the way of orientation needs for your program and provide interactive solutions


Jo Lehberger, MA MSN CBP

Joette Lehberger serves as a Director for ATI Post Grad Products with a specialty in Integration and Complete Accounts. Experience in ATI includes tenures in the Full Time Coaching arena, Customized and Comprehensive Live Reviews, and Regional On-Line Management. She has been a nurse educator for over 30 years and specializes in the art of caring in the professional workplace. Using a combination of Jean Watson’s Caring Theory and Maslow’s Hierarchy, Jo has put her leadership and consulting skills to work in both the healthcare and educational industry. A passion and focus on students and customer service that promotes personal and professional growth is the thumbprint that Jo desires to communicate. A graduate of Butler College with a degree in nursing, she also holds a Master’s in Counseling from American Christian College, and a Master’s in Nursing with a specialization in administration and management from Aspen University. Jo is a 2016 ATI President’s Club Honoree, holds Certification as a Business Professional, a member of the American Christian Counseling Association with a focus on Marriage and Family Counseling, and is a keynote motivational speaker. She resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband of 38 years and enjoys life with her 8 grandchildren.
