Self-Care Practices of Entry Level Registered Nursing Students
Self-Care Practices of Entry Level Registered Nursing Students
Nursing is a high stress profession. Many healthcare entities have launched programs to help nurses with self-care and to prevent burnout. Nursing programs introduce new challenges and stresses to an individual. By purposely threading self-care into a nursing curriculum, it may be possible to provide the tools needed, in a proactive approach, to help nurses to be successful, in patient care and in self-care. Baseline data will be presented for a study that seeks to evaluate the impact of self-care information included in the University of Arizona registered nurse training programs on student’s self-care behaviors, stress, resilience, anxiety and depression symptomatology, and compare program results with students enrolled across the University of Arizona College of Nursing prelicensure nursing programs.
