“Savvy Business Owner, RN”- Nurses are creative and innovative in nature and many nurses have created businesses out of need and/or desire. They see an opportunity to deliver a product or service and carpe diem- “seize the day” or opportunity. This session would explore opportunities for nurses to follow their entrepreneurial spirit and provide a framework that includes basic tenets of business creation and maintenance.


Marlo D. Robinson, DNP, JD, RN, CD (DONA)

Dr. Marlo Robinson is the National Dean of Nursing at Concorde Career Colleges, Inc. Concorde has multiple nursing programs nationwide. A priority goal for Dr. Robinson in her current role is the expansion of faculty development and the creation of unique and individualized strategies to assist graduates in meeting their goals by overcoming circumstances as they prepare to challenge the national nursing licensure exam. Marlo’s professional accomplishments include: Serving as an active member on the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing and a member of the inaugural taskforce for Central States Private Education Network’s (CPEN) Diversity and Inclusion Committee, working as a lead faculty member at Kaplan University in the creation of a nursing mentorship program whereby faculty and students entering their first core nursing course were partnered for ultimate student success during the program and post-graduation. Dr. Robinson’s professional training began at the University of Miami (Florida) where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then earned her Juris Doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University and later served as in-house counsel to the Sports Authority. Dr. Robinson later earned her Masters of Nursing at Kaplan University and recently earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Purdue University Global. Marlo is also the founder and owner of Mother’s Care Doula Services, Inc. where she serves as President and Directress. Mother’s Care was founded in 1998 and is celebrating its twenty-fourth year in business successfully serving the South Florida birthing community needs. Marlo truly enjoys supporting, encouraging and serving as a consultant to nurses as they realize their potential as creative, savvy business owners.
