NCSBN and the Next Generation NCLEX® (NGN) Project

NCSBN and the Next Generation NCLEX® (NGN) Project

While the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams each measure the knowledge and skills of an entry-level nursing candidate, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) assesses a candidate’s ability to perform clinical judgment. In this presentation, we will cover why these changes are necessary, we will review sample NGN case studies and item types and demonstrate how they connect to the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Model, and we will provide an overview of the research behind these decisions and changes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the changes coming to the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams.
  • View sample Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) case studies and sample item sets.
  • Connect the sample items shown with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Model and other research.
