Got Civility? A Step-By-Step Framework For Your Organization

This session will provide an evidenced based framework for implementing an organizational Civility Initiative. Participants will develop a plan to promote civility in their college or organization.


Sandra Annesi, DNP, RN

Dr. Sandy Annesi is the Vice President of Curriculum Integration and NCLEX Services at ATI Nursing Education. Managing a team with over 450 nurse educators located remotely across the country, she oversees online and live review programs that provide services to assist nursing students in passing licensure exams and preparing for clinical practice with a 95-99% success rate. She leads a team of Integraton Specialist Nurse Educators who support faculty across the country with integrating ATI products in their curriculum to achieve student and program outcomes. By listening to the needs of customers, she has successfully created and implemented products that are achieving excellent outcomes and are selling nationally and internationally to nursing and health care institutions. Dr. Annesi has a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from the University of North Florida, a Master of Science Degree from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her graduate degrees have a focus in Nursing Administration. She previously worked as a Tenured Professor of Nursing, an online RN to BSN Instructor, and held a variety of clinical and nurse management roles.

Susan Yowler, MSN, RN, CNE

Susan Yowler, MSN, RN, CNE, is Manager, NCLEX Services, ATI Nursing Education. Susan has been a registered nurse for 37 years, spending the last 16 years in nursing education. She has a master’s degree in nursing education from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. Susan became a NLN Certfified Nurse Educator in 2013. She has a keen interest in student success and its correlation to active teaching and learning strategies, as well as quality remediation methods. Yowler’s experience as a nurse educator in the academic setting for seven years and as a nurse educator with ATI Nursing Education for nine years affords her the opportunity to expand her knowledge on this crucial topic affecting student and program success. Susan serves as Chair of the ATI NCLEX Services Department’s Civility Initiative and has been instrumental in guiding the team’s work to promote civility and to strengthen the educator’s ability to address incivility in both the online and face-to-face learning environment. Yowler was the first recipient of the Ascend Values Award in 2015 and in 2018, earned President’s Club honors for outstanding service.
