Equity-Oriented Design in a Pre-licensure Nursing Course
Nursing students enter higher education with diverse learning needs. To maximize learning opportunities for nursing students, an equitable, accessible and inclusive learning environment is critical to the course design. It is important for nurse educators to intentionally include equity-oriented design (EOD) into their course to meet the needs of all learners. EOD awards every nursing student the opportunity to achieve comparable outcomes regardless of background, ability, or life experience. This presentation will examine student satisfaction with a quality improvement project (QIP) that incorporated EOD into a nursing course. The QIP will be summarized and learners will form a plan to integrate EOD into their teaching.
