Curriculum Design with Metacognition in Mind
Curriculum Design with Metacognition in Mind
A goal of nursing education is to help students make and communicate clinical judgements, apply concepts, and cultivate self-reflection in their learning; however, students struggle to think deeply, are impatient with learning obstacles, have challenges with communication, are uneasy with gray areas, and are often heard saying, just tell me what I need to know. Why is this and what can we do about it? In this session faculty will gain experience integrating metacognitive activities to get students thinking about their thinking and role in the learning process through activities that can be infused across the curriculum.
