Courage to Change: Empowering Nurse Educators to Ignite Self-Efficacy during Tumultuous Times
Major challenges, exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, exist in nursing education, including attracting and retaining qualified nursing faculty to ensure learning and work environments are healthy and effective. Nursing faculty report being physically exhausted and emotionally depleted and report troubling student behaviors occurring with increasing frequency (Bradford, 2021). Nurse educators are being tasked to derive opportunities to promote our profession by asking questions such as “How might we do nursing education differently”? Through the lens of Kotter (1996) change model, this presentation will address the need to attract, retain, and empower effective faculty through review of evidence-based strategies, role-playing scenarios, and reflective practice designed to promote self-efficacy in all areas of the academic teaching & learning environment.
