Call for Abstracts

The abstract submission window for Summit 2026 has closed.

The 2026 National Nurse Educator Summit will focus on the critical issues facing nursing education, learning, and healthcare today. Topics of interest this year inform and assist both undergraduate and graduate educators as they prepare their students for practice.

Our focus is on concrete strategies that will: 

  • better prepare students for practice in the clinical setting
  • provide nurse educators with teaching tools and strategies
  • equip program leaders to manage curricula, faculty, and students
  • recruit and support nurse educators in their roles, work, and lives.

Abstracts must describe completed projects, and all work should be original.

Abstracts may take the following forms:  

  • Innovative Teaching Strategies: These should be adaptable, effective, engaging, and scalable. The abstract demonstrates the strategy is adaptable for different learners, that it improves learning outcomes, that it captures and maintains student interest, and that it can be implemented across various programs / courses.
    • In the classroom: interactivity, environment conducive to learning, assessment methods for evaluating student understanding, or inclusivity for diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
    • In the lab: hands-on experience, safety protocols and procedures established, resource availability, or integration with theoretical learning.
    • In simulation: realism, feedback mechanism, skill development, or accessibility to all students.
    • In clinical: supervision vs preceptorship, exposure to a variety of clinical settings and patient cases, competency development, or reflection opportunities.
  • Research and Evidence-based Practices: relevance, rigor, implementation process, or impact.
  • Student Engagement and Support: accessibility to all students, personalization to individual student needs and goals, feedback mechanism, or community of support.
  • Technology and Innovation in Nursing Education: integration into the curriculum, usability for all students, enhancement of learning outcomes and student engagement, or security measures.
  • Curriculum Development and Evaluation: alignment with industry standards and competencies, flexibility to changes in healthcare and education, assessment methods for evaluating curriculum effectiveness, or feedback mechanisms.
  • Leadership: vision for nursing education, support for faculty and students, innovation and continuous improvement, or communication strategies.
  • Policy and Advocacy in Nursing Education: awareness of relevant policies and advocacy efforts, engagement in policy discussions and advocacy, impact to meaningful changes in nursing education or practice, or collaboration with external organizers and stakeholders.
Presentations may take the following forms:
  • 60-minute standard breakout session
  • 90-minute interactive breakout session
  • E-poster presentation: digital poster with 15 minute podium presentation
  • Standard poster presentation: physical poster with exhibit hall presentation times

You may select an alternate presentation form during the submission process to present if not accepted for your first choice.

In order to be accepted, you must be willing and able to attend the 2026 National Nurse Educator Summit in-person in Tucson, AZ on April 26 – 29, 2026.

  • Accepted 60 and 90 minute breakout session speakers will receive complementary conference registration and a hotel room for the night(s) of their speaking obligation, plus a $500 stipend for travel.
  • Accepted E-Poster presenters will receive complementary conference registration only.
  • Accepted Poster presenters will receive 25% off conference registration only.

  • Abstract Submissions Due: October 3, 2025
  • Acceptance/Rejection Notifications Given: November 3, 2025
  • Speaker Acceptance Needed By: November 17, 2025
  • Preliminary Presentation Information Due: December 12, 2025
  • Final Presentation Due: January 9, 2026
  • Event Dates: April 26-29, 2026
